Last year I made the insanely terrifying decision to quit my ‘corporate climb the career ladder’ job as a product developer and manager. It had a lot to do with developing products I like to describe as strawberry cake being marketed as chocolate ganache and a lot more to do with the feeling that, even when you opt for natural, ‘great’ skincare that has all your skins best interests at heart, is hard to find.

(I’ve literally spent hours in the past trying to scout out the best ‘n cleanest ingredients lists to add some awesome product recommendations to all the skincare advice you’ll find on this site. ‘N even then I’ve usually had to compromise on a few key ingredients… although I’ve made sure they are low, low down (like limbo worthy low down*winks*) on the ingredients list)

It was this ‘squeeze-point’, the feeling that most skincare companies just like to baffle people with science to make it ‘sound’ like it’ll work and a couple of other ‘push’ factors that gave me the guts I needed to hand in my notice of resignation last year. Since then I’ve been living off ‘squirreled away’ savings and making my way as a freelance skincare writer to fund my ‘dream’ of developing a skincare range that is as rounded for your skin health as an apple!

… this my lovely is what I am so happy to be able to introduce to you today. Today is Launch (minus) 3 days…

I’d love (so much) for you to share in the excitement, so I also have a launch giveaway which you can enter (up to 4 times – yay!) below… p.s. it’s to win the same cleansing balm that one of my beautiful testers rated as better than her ‘go to’ Emma Hardy Balm.

The Inspiration Behind Honesty Skincare…

You. You my lovely are the inspiration behind the capsule launch range of Honesty skincare. Skincare that is naturally based, ingredient conscious (i.e. we don’t just use naturals because they are natural, we also acknowledge some naturals are bad for skin!) and always designed for your long term skin health.

Have you ever experienced one of these ‘my skin is starting to cry out for a bit of tlc’ moments?…

“I’ve developed some small patches of dry skin recently (I think its eczema) but I’ve never been a sufferer before, the more I use my heavenly smelling moisturiser, the worse it seems to get in the long term”

the culprit, essential oils, parfum & skin drying alcohols

“I used a moisturiser that made my skin feel silky smooth straight after I used it. Almost like I’d had the ultimate exfoliation. The thing is, it didn’t actually seem to improve my skin  in the long term… sure it felt great, but then that feeling got washed down the plug ‘ol!

– the culprit, silicon’s & texturisers

“My skin’s suddenly become spotty and I think it coincided with a new facial product I’m trying out… (how do I find the reverse switch?!?!)

– the culprit, colorants and clogging ingredients like isopropyl myristate and coconut oil.

…There are so many more of these ‘my skin is trying to tell me something’ moments… have you had your own? Tell me in the comments below. It’s especially true when you’ve just begun suffering from a skin condition like rosacea or eczema. You find yourself looking for naturals because they are gentler right? Then you quickly realise that not everything that says natural is actually healthy for your skin.

This my friend is the ethos behind all Honesty skincare…

Naturally based skincare that always (always, always, always) has your long-term skin health as its no.1 priority.

Infact my lovely… it’s you that is my no.1 priority. That’s why everything I do here on the blog or in formulating new skincare products is always…

  • Awareness driven. I want to help you ‘know’ what is great for your skin (even if that’s not actually a product that I’ve made)
  • Authentic, transparent & honest. Ask me anything and I will tell you the ‘real deal’…
  • Ingredient conscious. Acknowledging that not all naturals are good and not all ‘women-made’ ingredients are bad. Who knew that black & white wasn’t so clear ‘eh *winks*
  • British based & British made… you know the what, who, when, where and why!

You might wanna know a little bit more about the (always awesome) ingredients that I’ve consciously selected for the range. So I thought I’d just share with you the tick-lists that I’ve checked against for each product and for each ‘n every skin loving ingredient…

Always full of…

  • Vitamins
  • Minerals
  • Omegas
  • Antioxidants
  • Skin identical’s
  • Plant based bio-active naturals
  • Skin protectants

Always free from…

  • Fragrance & Essential oils
  • Allergens
  • Skin drying alcohol’s
  • Silicon’s & texturisers
  • Mineral oil
  • Sulphates
  • Colorants
  • Animal derived ingredients (vegan ticked!)

Introducing The Capsule Launch Range…

Imagine Gok Wan channeling skincare *winks*… each and every product has been tested by skincare lovers like yourselves, so I’ll let my lovely testers tell you about these 5 ‘skin lovers’ in their own words…

Protect, Nourishing Cleanse Balm

“I found the Protect Nourishing Cleanse Balm washed away all traces of make-up. I have maturing skin and live in a dry climate. I love the way it leaves my skin feeling soft and clean.” – Susan.A

“I love this face cleanser!!! My face felt so smooth and so hydrated.” – Carrie.F

“I have tried many different cleansers my favourite being the ‘Emma Hardie cleansing balm’ but after trying the protect nourishing cleanse balm I would never go back again, my skin feels soft, fresh and better than it ever has” – Olivia.M

Renew, Antioxidant Night Oil

“This product has given my skin a glow it never had about it before. I put it on as my last step in my night-time skincare routine, you only need a little and after just a week of using it my skin was ‘radiant’. I’m not parting with this (ever!).” Katie.S

Hydrate, Facial Balance Mist

“Heaven. Calms my skin right down and has definitely helped to soothe away the persistent dry, itchy, scaly patches of skin that I suffer from. The best bit is it’s so simple to use, just spray it all over and pat it in (or not if I’m feeling a bit lazy) I’d definitely recommend this!” – Jessica.N

Soothe, Facial Comfort Cream

‘I love using this cream so much it’s now replaced by previous one, it feels so rich and nourishing!’ – Jo.L

‘I never seem to have much luck with face creams as I have both very dry and sensitive skin. I’ve tried cream after cream and only ever found one or two that work for me. The soothe facial comfort cream works perfectly for my skin. It’s soft, sinks in to my skin well and leaves it feeling silky and nourished for the whole day. Couldn’t recommend it more.’ – Rhian.S

Revive, Facial Omega Oil

“I loved using the Revive facial oil, my skin is prone to spots and I’m a combination skin type which makes me wary of using oils on my skin. I was surprised how quickly the oil absorbed and I visibly saw less oiliness in my skin. It definitely helped with my spots and my skin had a healthy (not shiny) glow about it. I’ve now even added it to my morning skincare regimen!” – Ruth.W

“I found the face oil to be very moisturizing. I was worried about it leaving my face oily but it totally sinks right in!! LOVE IT!!!” – Carrie.F
